With her favorite bag full of fun-colored notebooks, pencils, and...hamsters? Laila is *READY* for her first day of school!
When I found this adorable character by Estrela Lourenço, a few years ago, I just knew I needed to model her! Of course, with full-time work, I wasn't able to dedicate as much time until now, but I'm so glad I did!!! I loved working on this model and especially loved texturing her. What a fun process.
I've learned so much about my own modeling/sculpting workflow, FiberMesh hair, texturing, and just character design in general. I started the character in ZBrush and used a combination of dynamesh, polygroups, and ZRemesher to get the shape and topology as close as I could to what I wanted for final. Then I brought her into Maya for UV editing and posing with a very bareboned rig before finally bringing her into Substance Painter. I will continue to develop this workflow as time goes on but I'm happy with how it works for now =]
Thank you for allowing me to bring Laila to life in a 3D space, Estrela! It was truly a pleasure :)

I plan to share a video turnaround in the future and possibly some texture maps! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these renders!
