Sometimes, when you bring your silly to work, people find that you’re the perfect person for certain projects. I’d say that’s essentially what happened here. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I’m pretty funny, and I owe some of that hilarity to SpongeBob and the gang. I grew up with the series and bonded with many friends over the silliness that was the show. Even today, as a full-blown adult, the franchise as a whole brings a certain level of tasty joy and nostalgia Plankton WISHES he could serve at the Chum Bucket.
Fun fact: This book was originally sold only at Scholastic Book Fairs, but it performed so well, Scholastic decided to publish a second meme book (the one below) to be sold by major retailers!
SpongeBob MemePants
The first of the meme books, SpongeBob MemePants was my first Sponge project at Scholastic, however it was not my first time working with Nickelodeon, having previously assisted on a Casagrandes novel. This book is chock-full of hilarious and relatable memes featuring moments from Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants. Not only that, on the back of each page are the same images with blanks for users to fill in and create their own memes.
This book is proof that when you love a property, there’s an extra special touch when you design things for it 😊 This book is full of love, and Brigid, George, and I all hope readers lover it as much as we do!
