When Scholastic acquired One Piece, I was stoked. While I hadn’t watched the anime, I had actually just started watching the Netflix show because I had genuine interest in the story, but was not prepared to jump into the 1,127 anime episodes at the time. Having been an anime lover for ages, I knew how committing to a show was committing to years worth of backlog, but I was looking forward to working on an anime/manga property and giving it the special treatment it deserved. The projects, below, were very heavy when it came to interior responsibilities, so I was glad to hire the freelancers and packagers I worked with to make each book a success.
Working with Toei Animation was fantastic; one might say they had a treasure trove of assets at the ready for us to jump into.
